November 2011 Rather bizarre: I published not one, not two, but three books this week! Jakob Kusdrager (Jacob the Kiss-Carrier, for children). Het boek van de natuur (The Book of Nature). And De vraag (The Question, about why there is suffering):
Oktober 2011 This music video I directed & edited for the band Eins Zwei Orchestra: September 2011 This year I worked on three books in the series Bijbelse geschiedenis in woord en beeld ('Biblical history in words & images'). Dutch Film Works produced the series: 10 full color books á 200 pages with 2 movies each. I wrote part 7, 8 and 9: the complete New Testament part. Some big (Christian and non-Christian) newspapers promote it: Nederlands Dagblad and Telegraaf. There even are commercials on the National Geographic Channel: for Holland that's quite unique.
January 2011 The Dutch nano-scientist Cees Dekker and I collaborated to make a wonderful book with 50 stories of Christians: how they believe and why. What's the core of there faith? That's why the full colour-book (with lots of paintings) is called De crux ('The Crux').
December 2010 My book De kern (The Core) was such a succes in the Netherlands (we sold 30.000, which is BIG for such a small countra). We decided to make a series of it:
The 2nd book is called De bijbel (The Bible) and is about... yes indeed. Questions like, is it historical, isn't old fashioned, isn't it boring? The 3rd is called Het leven (The Life), after one of Jesus' titles. It shows how He brings life in ordinary situations. November 2010 This month three new books in store: De bijbel (The Bible), a short introduction with basic questions like: Isn't it boring stuff? What about the violence in it? Is it historically reliable? And the De crux (The Crux), a full colour book with Cees Dekker (nano-scientist in Delft), with 49 Christians who tell about their faith. And then Het leven (The Life) about why Jesus is the Life. Again a short introduction, now to Jesus. September 2010 There's an English translation of my bestselling little book De kern, now as The core! On the back is explained: 'It is an old, extremely old story, but is interests me immensely. Even more, I believe it. And I see two billion people around me who believe it. What inspires this two billion? Why is Christianity the fastest growing religion world-wide? Sometimes I ride my bike past a church building, and I still don't get it: how is it possible that all these buildings are topped with an instrument of torture, a cross? How can something like that be inspiring? Later I cal still feel it down to my toes, that this is actually the greatest and most gripping tale that could ever be told. Let me try that.

December 2009 ‘We receive an endless stream of books here, but a book that could change your life, is rare. The Good Life of Reinier Sonneveld could do this... He wanders through the world with a special gift of perceptivity... Many spiritual books are 'nice' but woolly, but Reinier is very direct and practical.’ Ronald Westerbeek (CV.Koers) ‘Reinier Sonneveld sends you on a mission, the mission of the good life. He has an big talent to contemplate on the principles of life. Enjoy this wonderful book. You will be amazed.’ Arenda Haasnoot (vice-chairman Protestant Church Netherlands) ‘I am deeply impressed. I already knew Reiniers skills as a writer. But this is a book that is very needed by the Dutch church: an urgent, dangerous book about radical discipleship. It annoyed me, triggered, upset, confronted and encouraged me. It made me laugh and... it made me stronger and more motivated than ever to fight for the Kingdom.’ Daniel de Wolf (Thugz Church) ‘Reinier Sonneveld writes a long personal letter to his readers and helps them honestly and open-minded to make the right choices in these confusing times, so that they can experience what really matters and what true richness is. Refreshing!’ Bob Goudzwaard (professor economics)
October 2009 Finished a devotional trilogy, with in sum 1092 little pieces of thought about the Bible, Jesus and God. This is the final book, Dansende berg (Dancing mountain):
July 2009 Went to Kenya, Nairobi, to visit the International Micah Conference about Climate Change. Interviewed some wonderful people there, like Joel Edwards, Zac Ziringiye, Stella Simiyu, René Padilla and Ruth Padilla.

September 2008 An impression of the graphic novel we're working on:
August 2008 I translated the classic novel by Peter de Vries The Blood of the Lamb into Dutch. Chicago News wrote in 1961 about this book: 'This is one of the most remarkeble works of fiction of our time, and it is as close to a masterpiece as anything written in America in many a year.'
June 2008 The little book The Core is getting rather popular. We now sold 16.000 copies in two months, for Holland quite a lot. David S. Turner wrote an English translation of it, download it for free: ![]() March 2008 A short book is published, for 1 Euro, about the heart of the matter of Christianity, De kern (The Core). February 2008 I'm now writing a more thorough book on the Crucifixion. I think I'm have the freedom now to not know the final answers. ![]() December 2007 A new book is published about 'experience culture', with some short chapters by me: Alles wat je hart begeert? (Everything You Want?). November 2007 For 10 euros you can buy a beautiful book about AIDS, with a chapter about my weeks in Ethopia. More information…
September 2007 Marisa Rappard made a wonderful cover for my latest book with 365 devotionals, Vliegende boom (Flying Tree, or 365 Attempts to Fly):
August 2007 A critical review of the popular Christian seminars and trainings by ACCD, the Breakthrough Training. July 2007 The English version of the website is now online. As a teaser some reviews of my work: 'Every page is a surprise…' (Visie, awarded with five stars) 'Reinier Sonneveld is one of the best essay-writers of the Netherlands.' (Boeklog) 'An eager curiosity combined with a sparkling and defiant writing style…' (Nederlands Dagblad) '…a modern and stirring masterpiece.' (Balkster) 'No other Dutch book moved me so much…' (CV.Koers) And that was a music video I made with Eljee for Ponoka. Bless ya all. |
